Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Sonar ("Sonar," "the app"), a macOS developer tool published by NYRAI LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("NYRAI," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Sonar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What Sonar does

Sonar statically scans the source code of your own iOS and web projects on your Mac and builds a dashboard of external API calls, third-party SDK usage, and possible hardcoded secrets. Sonar is read-only with respect to your source code and never modifies it. All scanning runs locally on your device.

2. License grant

Subject to these Terms, NYRAI LLC grants you a single-user, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use one copy of Sonar for your personal or internal business purposes.

This is a license, not a sale of the software itself. NYRAI LLC retains all right, title, and interest in and to Sonar, including all intellectual property rights.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• copy, redistribute, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, or lend the app except as permitted by these Terms;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this limitation;
• remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the app;
• share, resell, or circumvent license keys or license activation; or
• use the app to scan code you do not own or do not otherwise have the right to analyze.

4. Free trial (Gumroad / direct-download edition)

The Gumroad / direct-download edition of Sonar includes a 14-day free trial. The trial lets you evaluate the app before purchasing. When the trial ends, you must purchase and activate a license to continue using the app. We may modify or discontinue the trial at any time. The Mac App Store edition is paid up front and does not include a separate trial.

5. Purchase and licensing

Sonar is sold as a one-time purchase (no subscription) through two channels:

• Gumroad / direct download: purchased via Gumroad and activated with a license key. When you activate, the app sends only your license key to Gumroad's license-verification API to confirm the purchase, as described in our Privacy Policy.
• Mac App Store: purchased and paid up front through Apple. No license key is required.

Your license is tied to the channel through which you purchased and is intended for use by a single user.

6. Refunds

Refund eligibility is determined by the platform through which you made your purchase:

• Gumroad purchases: refund requests are handled according to Gumroad's refund policy. Please direct refund requests to Gumroad (and to the seller of record where applicable).
• Mac App Store purchases: refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's standard App Store refund policy. Please request refunds directly through Apple.

Because each platform manages its own payments, NYRAI LLC cannot process refunds for purchases made on a platform it does not control.

7. Disclaimer of warranty

SONAR IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NYRAI LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Sonar's scan results — including its detection of API calls, SDK usage, and possible hardcoded secrets — are provided for informational purposes only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for independently verifying findings and for the security of your own code. NYRAI LLC does not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NYRAI LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) SONAR, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN ALL CASES, NYRAI LLC'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID FOR THE APP.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts located in Massachusetts shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above. Your continued use of Sonar after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
